FRAGMENTS
ART DIRECTION, CONCEPT, personal
Trained in theoretical photography and design at London College of Communication, photography is still a daily habit that I rely on to observe and process visual concepts and phenomena.
DEAD HUSBAND / Renaissance EP — Recent 12" work for Oakland-based electronic music label, idol Patterns.
I'm interested in documenting the natural world, especially where it meets the built environment, and many of my design manipulations consist of reworked photos, often organic subjects made architectural through collage.
My design process is intuitive, iterative, and exploratory. I rarely consider any of my personal work ‘final’, but instead an ongoing dialogue that mines memory, logic, lawlessness, and play.
As a designer and art director, the right to explore and to play are values I hold in high esteem. Within this ethos, typography and geometric forms serve as anchors that aim to ground the work, creating contrast between fluidity and structure, the hard and the soft, informing decisions about color and tone.
